Business Systems Analyst

   

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.

  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirements specifications.

  • Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist of most phases of systems analysis, while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment”                   

   

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. May substitute equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Years of Experience:11+ years in Business Analyst or 7+ years with Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Proficiency Level Required with MS Office Products: intermediate.

  • Experience with the following software languages: SQL, Java, JavaScript.

  • Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts.

  • Knowledge of Use Case development and analysis.*  Knowledge of best practices for developing documentation, including but not limited to Unified Modeling Language (UML).

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a public trust clearance or higher.

   

Essential Functions

Business Systems Analysis

  • Develop requirements, workflow and system analysis.

  • Work with business stakeholders and users to develop software requirements and specifications for current system enhancements, new system functionality and new projects for use by customers.

  • Analyze, design and evaluate computer systems to address and satisfy business requirements.

  • Collaborate with developers and QA to ensure business and system requirements are met, adequately tested, and to enhance functionality.

  • Functional Requirements

  • Capture, verify, and manage requirements and requirements traceability in support of product development, test and delivery.

  • Establish functional, non-functional and performance specifications.

  • Identify requirements that need additional refinement in order to be implemented.

  • Assist in prioritizing enhancements.

Client Support

  • Develop effective guidelines and ensure all project documentation meets established guidelines.

  • Conduct business and technical presentations for the customer.

  • Provide solutions to moderate technical problems.

  • Understand and communicate government policies and regulations, operational mission and goals for assigned programs.

  • Collaborate with developers and QA to enhance requirements.

  • Collaborate with developers and QA to meet schedule requirements.

Team Support

  • Coordinate and collaborate with others in analyzing collected requirements to ensure plans and solutions meet customer needs and expectations.

  • Build, confirm, and prioritize project plans and deliverables with senior team members.

  • Work independently in a collaborative team environment.

  • May work in a team with other clients and vendors.

  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Attend required training.
